Set in Richmond in 1919, this is the story of Charlie Feehan. Times are tough and become even tougher after Charlie’s father dies. When Charlie wins the job as runner for Squizzy Taylor, Melbourne’s most dangerous gangster, he sees it as a way to help his family. But when Charlie and his mate, Nostrils, while delivering sly grog and collecting protection money for Squizzy, get caught up in the gang wars with Fitzroy, Charlie decides its time to get out. He then decides to put his running skills to the test and train for a professional running race.
