Blackout – Sam Mills

In the near future books are dangerous. Books are banned or rewritten to remove any violence or radical thinking after a book inspired a major terrorist attack. Anyone caught reading a banned book is punished in this harsh world, where everyone is under constant surveillance, there are public hangings in Trafalgar Square, and rebellious kids are sent to an institution to be brainwashed into obedience. When Stefan’s father – who runs a bookshop – hides a writer on the run, Stefan’s world is thrown into turmoil. Torn between loyalty to his father and loyalty to the state, Stefan’s life becomes a nightmare and he soon  finds himself on the run.
An action packed thriller that is both thought-provoking and disturbing.
