Incarceron – Catherine Fisher

Incarceron is a prison like no other. It is a whole world of dilapidated cities, metal forests and wilderness – a terrifying place where each day is a constant struggle for survival. The prison has been sealed from the outside for centuries, and only one man, legend says, has ever escaped. Finn, a seventeen-year-old prisoner, can’t remember his childhood but is haunted by visions and believes he came from the outside. He’s determined to escape. Claudia, the daughter of the Warden of Incarceron, is on the outside and is determined to escape an arranged marriage. When Finn and Claudia each discover a crystal key they are able to communicate with each other and a plan is made for Finn’s escape. But it will take their greatest courage and cost far more than they know, because the ever-watchful Incarceron is alive.

A gripping futuristic fantasy.
