It’s South Africa, 1990. Two major events are about to happen. The release of Nelson Mandela from prison and thirteen-year-old Spud Milton’s first year at an elite boarding school for boys. Through the pages of his diary Spud reveals a world of illegal midnight swims, raging hormones, embarrassing parents, catastrophic holidays and a dormitory full of strange characters.
